CUSTOM HOME DESIGN FOR NEW HOMES AND ADDITIONS

An aesthetically pleasing, cost effective construction project begins with the coordination of a well-planned and detailed set of construction plans and specifications.

Design

Initial engineering contact begins with either an Owner or a Builder.  The Owner or Builder typically will be referred to a designer who will create the initial floor plans and elevations, unless architectural plans on plan sheets have already been developed.  The draftsperson will begin the engineering plan setup and research location specifications.  The plans will be submitted to the truss designer.  Once truss design work is complete, the Professional Engineer will begin engineering analysis.  The redlined plan set is handed back to the draftsperson for incorporation. This completes the 1st draft plans for Owner/Builder review and approval.

Upon Owner/Builder's written approval of changes and/or acceptance, the draftsperson incorporates the changes or modifications and gives the plans back to the Professional Engineer.  The Professional Engineer reviews and modifies the engineering components and specifications and the plans go back to the draftsperson for the final incorporation of redlines.  The final drawing package set is signed and sealed and given back to the Owner or Builder to start the permitting process.

Permitting

Additional services may be required based on the comments from the Building Department.  Once the plan set is permitted, construction may begin on the project.

Construction

During construction, site visits and observations based on design or construction changes may require additional engineering services.
